The big items
For a 5 m² bathroom, about a third goes on labour, a third on tiles and fittings and the rest on pipework, drains, plastering and waste. That usually puts a complete bathroom between €11,000 and €17,000.
Where you can save
Leave the drains where they are. Moving a toilet or shower can easily cost an extra €1,000 to €2,500. Large tiles are not necessarily more expensive, but laying them takes longer.
Where not to save
The waterproof layer under the tiles. You'll never see it again, but if it isn't right, your shower will be leaking into the downstairs flat in five years.
